Defending Ranji Champions Rajasthan defeated Saurashtra by a big margin of 229 runs in their Group A Match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Medium pacer Sumit Mathur picked up six wickets as Saurashtra folded to 143 while chasing a target of 373.
Asked to bat first after losing the toss, Rajasthan put up 396 in their first innings with opener Vineet Saxena (127) and Puneet Yadav (108) scoring centuries. For Saurashtra, left arm medium pacer Jaydev Unadkar took five wickets. In reply to Rajasthan's 396, the visiting Saurashtra team got packed up for just 265. India Test hopeful Cheteshwar Pujara top scored for the visitors with a neat 78. For Rajasthan, tall medium pacer Pankaj Yadav picked up five wickets.
Rajasthan set up a target of 373 after declaring their second innings at 241 for 4. India Test discard Aakash Chopra (98) missed out on a century by a whisker.
